Qatar Airways (QR/QTR) have officially suspended flights from Doha to Birmingham (BHX/EGBB) and Cardiff (CWL/EGFF) airports for Winter 2020 as travel restrictions mean demand isn’t there.

The airline had hoped to resume flights from both airports in October but the current global situation means the airline is focusing on the most profitable routes.

Qatar Airways has also announced significant cuts in capacity on other routes.

The news comes as a particular blow for struggling Cardiff Airport where Qatar Airways is the flagship route for the airport and they will be keeping everything crossed that there are no further suspensions after this winter.

The route is now tentatively scheduled to restart from both airports on the 28th March 2021.
