Competition makes the route no longer viable for Virgin Atlantic

Virgin Atlantic has said it will end Heathrow to Dubai flights from spring 2019.

The airline says it took the difficult decision to end the route after it became clear in a review of its network that the route was no longer viable.

Virgin faces fierce competition on the route from British Airways and Dubai based Emirates which now operates 10 flights a day to London airports.

In a statement, the airline said:  “It‘s never an easy decision to withdraw a route, and we’d like to thank our customers and dedicated team in Dubai for their loyalty over the last 12 years. We’ll continue to offer daily flights between Dubai and London Heathrow until March 31, 2019, and will be sad to say goodbye to this fantastic city.”

The service will end on 31st March 2019
