Thomson Holidays have confirmed they are adding a new charter flight to Tenerife from Cardiff Airport in 2016. The extra Tenerife flight will  be operated by Low-Cost carrier, Norwegian.

Norwegian recently signed an agreement with Thomson and First Choice (TUI Group) to operate chartered flights on their behalf. This will see one of Norwegians modern Boeing 737-800 aircraft equipped with free wi-fi operating from Cardiff Airport.

Karen Switzer, Director of Aviation Planning for Thomson and First Choice, said:

“The introduction of this extra flight to Tenerife demonstrates our commitment to Cardiff Airport and the local area. It adds more choice of flights and flexibility for 10 and 11 night holidays to this popular destination and will allow our customers in the Cardiff area to experience even more exciting holidays.”

“Expanding access to our portfolio of destinations and hotels is a key part of our overall strategy and we hope that this move will enhance the holiday experience for our customers.”

Norwegian Chief Commercial Officer Thomas Ramdahl said:

“We are very pleased to continue to fly charter passengers for TUI, including our first ever flights from Cardiff Airport. With brand new aircraft and free in-flight WiFi, we look forward to welcoming even more passengers on board and giving them a perfect start to their summer getaway.”

Spencer Birns, Commercial Director at Cardiff Airport said:

“It is great to see Norwegian operating from Cardiff for the first time bringing the total number of airlines making regular use of our facilities at Cardiff to 18. “We believe our passengers will welcome Norwegian to Wales and enjoy their summer holidays, flying from our National Airport.”
