RBS 6 Nations gets underway for Welsh fans at Cardiff Airport

The RBS 6 Nations has officially begun for Welsh fans as special charter flights get underway from Cardiff Airport.

Wales take on Italy in Rome on Sunday 5th February 2017 and many fans are taking the opportunity to make a weekend of it in the Italian capital.

Friday sees charter flights from Jet 2, Thomson, Go2Sky and Enterair. The Welsh Rugby team will also be travelling from the airport today on a specially chartered Carpatair flight due to leave around 2pm.

With more flights due out on Saturday the weekend provides a significant boost to passenger numbers at Wales National Airport with around 3,600 fans expected to make the trip to see Wales hopefully secure their first win of the 2017 campaign.

Cardiff Airport will also get busy again on Sunday evening as Welsh fans return after the match. The airport expects around 40 extra aircraft movements as a result.
