Passengers report loud bangs and cracks in the floor

A temporary building forming part of Terminal 2 at Manchester Airport (MAN/EGCC) has been evacuated after a crack appeared in a wall and floor.

Passengers took to social media site Twitter to describe hearing loud bangs and seeing cracks in the structure.

One user, Andrea Atherton posted pictures of a crack saying it sounded like the temporary floors were “collapsing”

Manchester Airport replied saying “we’re sorry for the inconvenience caused. As a precautionary measure we evacuated the one flight out of the temporary gate lounge so our teams could investigate.”.

The airport, which is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year, is currently undergoing major upgrade and renovation to its terminals and infrastructure.

Manchester Airport says only one outbound flight has been affected.
