London Luton Airport (LTN/EGGW) has reported record passenger numbers for October 2018.

The airport says that 1.5 million passengers used the airport in October, a 7.9% increase over the same period last year.

The increase comes as a raft of new routes are launched by Easyjet, Ryanair, Wizz Air, SunExpress, Tui and Thomas Cook Airlines to destinations including Verona, Italy, Tallinn in Estonia and Gibraltar.

Lonton Luton Airport is coming to the the end of its three-year redevelopment that has cost around £160 million. This has seen improved access to the airport with a new dual carriageway as well as a bus terminal and multi-storey car park.

The terminal has also seen upgrades including a bigger security search area, a new boarding pier and a fully renovated departures lounge.

Nick Barton, CEO of LLA, said: “This is an exciting time for the airport, as we continue to welcome more passengers and introduce more routes. Our transformation will only improve passengers’ journeys, making them easier and more enjoyable. We look forward to our passengers, staff and local community feeling the benefits of a busy and successful airport.”
