In a blow to the recovery of Cardiff Airport (CWL/EGFF) Wizz Air UK has cancelled its planned Cardiff to Jersey route which was due to start later this month.
It has also cancelled the planned service from Doncaster Sheffield airport (DSA/ EGCN).
Passengers who were booked on the route have today been notified that their booking has been cancelled and offered a refund or alternatives.
Wizz Air UK has recently launched a base at Cardiff Airport and the flight to jersey was set to provide not only a vital link that was lost when Flybe collapsed, but also a quarantine free holiday destination.
A spokesperson for Wizz Air UK said “As is normal practice in the aviation industry, routes can sometimes change according to travel seasons and demand.
“Unfortunately for these reasons, Wizz Air confirms it has had to cancel its routes from Cardiff Airport and Doncaster Sheffield Airport to Jersey.
“Passengers with bookings affected by this change will be informed via e-mail and automatically refunded 120% of the original fare in airline credit. Passengers can also opt for a 100% cash refund to their original payment method or the chance to rebook for free.
“Wizz Air sincerely apologises for any inconvenience caused.”
