The final Beluga XL is ready for take-off

Airbus has compeleted the 6th and final Airbus Beluga XL oversized transport aircraft.

The Beluga XL was built to replace the A300 based Beluga SST which transported aircraft wings and fuselage sections between various Airbus facilties in Europe.

The A330 based Beluga XL is significantly larger than the first variant as the name suggests and can carry an extra 5 tonnes in weight with a 30% increase in cargo space.

The nost common use in the UK is to transport wings from Airbus Broughton final assembly lines such as Toulouse and Hamburg.

The latest and final Beluga XL No 6 comes into service just 3 years after the first Beluga XL in early 2020.
