The Royal Air Force (RAF) took delivery of the last of 9 Boeing P-8A Poseidon aircraft at RAF Lossiemouth yesterday completing the deliveries of the type.

Known in the UK as Poseidon MRA1, the submarine-hunting aircraft is based on the Boeing 737 airliner and replaces the capability previously carried out by BAe Nimrods, which were retired in 2011.

The first Poseidon MRA1 arrived in the UK in February 2020 and entered service with the RAF a couple of months later in April.

The type moved to its permanent home at RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland in October 2020.

POseidon MRA1 aircraft are numbered ZP801 (Pride of Moray) through to ZP909 which is yet to be named.
