Value airline of the year 2018

Low-fares airline Norwegian Air Shuttle has been named as value airline of the year in the 2018 Air Transport World Awards.

The awards, which took place in Dublin on Tuesday, saw the Fornebu, Norway based airline scoop the award for its budget flights across Europe and its long-haul services. Together with its subsidiary, Norwegian Air UK, it operates flights from UK Airports including Edinburgh and London Gatwick.

Norwegian has developed a reputation for taking on legacy carriers including offering budget flights to the USA, Asia and South America.

Despite a turbulent 2017, Norwegian has just raised €137m through a share release to help fund its aggressive route and aircraft investment.

Other winners at the awards included All Nippon Airways, who won airline of the year; Air Baltic, who won the airline market leader award and AerCap, who were named leasing company of the year.
