Essex Police have confirmed they are attending an incident at Stansted Airport (STN/EGSS) after a Kenya Airways flight from Nairobi (KQ100) was diverted there instead of its planned destination of London Heathrow.

The Beoing 787 arrived at Stansted shortly before 4pm after being escorted by Royal Air Force (RAF) Typhoons on a Quick Reaction Alert (QRA) response.

On arrival, the aircraft was met by armed police as well as fire services.

After a thorough search, the emergency services were stood down.

Kenya Airways says that it had received a security threat at its offices directed towards this flight and as such followed emergency protocol.
