A Flybe Dash 8 aircraft, believed to be G-JECP has crashed on landing at Amsterdam airport following a flight from Edinburgh BEE1284

In a video shot by an aviation enthusiast the right hand main landing gear appears to collapse on landing during a windy touchdown at Amsterdams Schiphol Airport.

A Flybe spokesperson said Flybe can confirm that there has been an incident involving one of our aircraft, flight no BE1284. The aircraft departed from Edinburgh at 1410 local time bound for Amsterdam. The incident occurred at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport at approximately 1659 local time.”

“We can confirm that there are no injuries and all passengers have been bussed to the airport terminal. Our primary concern is for the welfare of the passengers and crew.

The Canadian built Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 aircraft is a twin engined turboprop which can carry 74 people and is used by Flybe for short city pairings due to its short field performance and ecomony.

Flybe CEO Christine Ourmieres-Widener said “Our highest priority is the safety and well-being of our passengers and crew. Our pilots regularly train for situations such as this in simulators at our training academy in Exeter. Our cabin crew are also fully trained to deal with these situations professionally.” adding “We have sent a specialist team to offer assistance to the investigation and we will now do all we can to understand the cause of this incident”

It is not known if the weather was a factor but Northern europe is being battered by Storm Doris.
