Birmingham (BHX/EGBB), East Midlands (EMA/EGNX) and London Southend (SEN/EGMC) scooped the best airports in their respective sizes at the annual Airport Operators Association Awards.
Birmingham won the over 10 million passenger category beating off competition from airports such as London Gatwick and Manchester to get the top spot while East Midlands was awarded Best Airport in the 3-10 million passenger category beating the likes of Bristol, Newcastle and Liverpool.
London Southend fended off competition from Cardiff Airport and Southampton and Belfast City to win the under 3 million category.
The Best Airport awards were chosen by Airlines UK, trade body for UK registered airlines.
Speaking about their award, Birmingham Airports acting Managing Director, Simon Richards said: “We are delighted to be presented with this accolade by the AOA, beating off stiff competition from other major UK airports in our category.
“We are particularly delighted that the award was judged by our airline customers, who have appreciated our progress and chosen to recognise it with this award.
“Credit must go to our employees and partner companies for the huge amount of hard work that has gone into improving our processes and customer experience over the last year.”
