A 65-year-old man has appeared at Mold Crown Court today charged with 13 counts of recklessly or negligently acting in a manner likely to endanger aircraft or persons in an aircraft
John Arthur Jones (65) from Bodffordd, Anglesey is accused of shining bright lights into the cockpits of RAF aircraft from nearby RAF Valley.
Mr Jones lives near Mona airfield which is a satellite airfield for RAF Valley and was found with extensive notes about aircraft movements from Mona which he claims were being used to detail complaints about noise. The prosecution allege that he used these notes to “predict” the movements of the aircraft so he could target them with total disregard for the safety of the pilots and crews on board.
The case comes just weeks after a Cardiff man was jailed for shining a laser pen at several airliners.
Mr Jones denies all charges of attempting to endanger aircraft and the trial continues.
