New Tampa service amongst a raft of winter changes
Norwegian has added a twice-weekly service to Tampa, Florida from London Gatwick (LGW/EGKK) as part of Winter 2018/19 changes.
The route, which begins on the 31st October will compete directly with legacy carrier British Airways (BA) on what is one of BA’s most popular routes.
Norwegian says fares on the route start from just £175.
Florida will be a strong winter focus for the low-cost carrier as it also increases Fort Lauderdale flights from 3 per week to daily. Orlando also increases from 3 times per week to 4.
Winter also sees Boston go from 5 flights per week to daily and Las Vegas also returns as a destination for the airline in the winter schedule. It’s not all good news for Gatwick though as flights to Austin and Seattle are dropped.
Elsewhere, Norwegian is increasing its Buenos Aires service to daily as a direct result of strong demand for the South American route.
Norwegian is currently the subject of desire for many airlines. It recently rejected two takeover bids from British Airways parent International Airlines Group (IAG) and is understood to be in talks with Lufthansa
Thomas Ramdahl, Chief Commercial Officer at Norwegian said:“Norwegian continues to offer customers increased choice, flexibility and value throughout winter 2018 and we are pleased to welcome Tampa, Florida, as a new destination to our network. Our modern fleet of aircraft allow customers, whether travelling for work or leisure, to enjoy their trip from the moment they step on board thanks to our award-winning state of the art entertainment system, comfortable and spacious cabin and friendly cabin crew.”
Guy Stephenson, Chief Commercial Officer, Gatwick Airport, said: “Norwegian’s new Tampa service, a new daily schedule for the existing Buenos Aires and Boston routes and increases to other services, all give our passengers yet more choice and flexibility. This choice, combined with the airline’s competitive prices and high quality service, are appreciated by both our business and leisure passengers and are an important reason for Norwegian’s success at Gatwick.”
Norwegian operates low-cost long-haul flights from London Gatwick with state of the art Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
