Doncaster Sheffield Airport will reportedly be closed for flights until after 0600hrs tomorrow due to a small runway excursion by a Boeing 747 Freighter.
No one was injured in the incident, which happened as the aircraft was backtracking (taxiing) along the runway after landing, but the aircraft will take some time to be removed from the grass.
A spokesperson for Doncaster Sheffeild Airport said: “We can confirm that the runway at DSA is temporarily closed due to a 747 freight aircraft requiring operational support. There were no passengers on board at the time of the incident, and there were no injuries to colleagues or crew. The freight on board the aircraft may be offloaded to aid recovery. The fire team have confirmed that the aircraft is safe, and have now returned to the station”
The aircraft involved was an Astral Aviation Boeing 747-400F.
