Loganair (LM/LOG) has announced it will drop its London Southend to Glasgow route from 3rd January 2020.

Loganair is operating the route with a 49-seat Embraer RJ145 Regional Jet making it hard to compete against the numerous low-cost options between London to Glasow from airlines such as Easyjet and Ryanair.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Loganair said “The feedback from our customers regarding both the passenger journey through London Southend Airport and the Loganair travel experience has been incredibly positive.

“We’ve made this decision, after much deliberation, due to the high number of low-fare options available in the Glasgow to London market for which our size of aircraft are unsuitable.

“As a result, we are able to improve our service from Glasgow to East Midlands. From 24 February Loganair will operate three times a day Monday through Friday, leaving Glasgow at 6.55, 14.45 and 18.15, thereby increasing travel options for both business and leisure travellers.”

Customers who have booked beyond 3rd January 2020 will be contacted by the airline and offered the chance to rebook on an alternative flight or a refund.
