The Wiltshire Air Ambulance was targeted by a laser while attempting to land at an emergency last night.
The Air Ambulance was attempting to land near Trowbridge, Wiltshire when the laser was directed at the aircraft from the South West area of the town.
In a statement, Wiltshire Air Ambulance said “Not only do these attacks pose a danger to the crew they also prevent us from carrying out our life saving work as we will often have to abort the mission and leave the area when attacked like this as we did tonight.”
Shining a laser at an aircraft is classed as endangering and aircraft and is a criminal offence punishable by up to 5 years imprisonment and an unlimited fine.
The incident is now being investigated by Wiltshire Police and anyone with information should contact 101.
