617 Squadron, the Dambusters, was celebrated at the Royal International Air Tattoo with a special flypast marking the squadrons iconic aircraft.

The flypast at RAF Fairford at the weekend formed part of the RAF100 celebrations and featured the squadrons famous Avro Lancaster, the aircraft which was used on the Dambusters raid.

The Lancaster, operated by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) flew with a Tornado GR4, which the squadron flew until 2014 and the RAF’s latest aircraft, the Lockheed Martin F-35B which is the current 617 Squadron aircraft.

A full review of the 2018 Royal International Air Tattoo will be available later this week.
