Irish budget airline Ryanair (FR/RYR) has said it will need to cancel parts of its planned summer schedule as Boeing will fail to deliver all of the 57 Boeing 737 Max aircraft expected in the next few months.
The cuts are equivalent to pulling 10 aircraft’s worth of flights from the schedule many passengers may be rebooked on alternative flights or be able to claim a refund if their booked flight is cancelled.
Ryanair says that it will aim to minimise disruption to its plans by cancelling flights where there are multiple flights per day to a destination rather than cancelling actual routes, or planned routes.
Boeing will only be able to deliver 40 of the 57 expected jets .
Ryanair also warned of price rises due to the lower than expected capacity with their fares potentially 10% higher than expected.
