David Bolton, a 44-year-old from Nottingham has been named as the pilot killed in a light aircraft crash near Troutbeck, Cumbria on Sunday.
In a statement, the family said that Mr Bolton was a “devoted husband, fantastic father, loving son and brother and a loyal friend with an appetite for life”.
“He made a huge impact on everyone he met, whether in his work in healthcare around the world or his personal life and will be truly missed by so many,”
Mr Bolton was the sole occupant of the aircraft which crashed on Sunday at around 14:50 local time.
His is understood to have had his pilots licence for around two years and was a recreational pilot.
The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) are investigating.
