The Isle of Mans Civil Aviation Administration (IoM CAA) has investigated a serious security breach at Isle of Man airport (IOM/EGNS) after a passenger was able to bypass security.
According to Manx Radio the passenger was able to leave a flight, go to his car, and then return to the aircraft without passing through security again.
There is a culture of relying on overtime and there have been occasions where the whole facility nearly had to close due to these shortages.
The Isle of Man CAA told Manx Radio: “The incident [which occurred in August 2022] has been investigated by the Isle of Man Airport in accordance with standard procedures and measures have been taken to prevent reoccurrence. As per routine process, IOM CAA reviewed the investigation and follow on measures and we are satisfied with the outcome.”
Bidvest Noonan, which runs the security at Isle of Man airport has been in talks with the islands Department for Infrasture who described the talks about staffing levels as “positive”.
