Boeing has told employees that they need to enforce furlough on employees as strike action by staff in Washington State halts production.
The Seattle-based plane maker says that the furlough is needed to preserve cash and ensure the company can recover post-strike
Exevutives, Managers and employees will be furloughed for one week in four on a rolling basis for as long as the strike action continues.
CEO Kelly Ortberg said that it was a “tough decision that will impact everybody”.
Boeing employees in Washington State are striking after rejecting an enhanced offer from Boeing which included a 25% payrise.
Despite the Unions saying it was the best deal they had ever negotiated, members rejected the deal.
The strikes will impact deliveries of Boeing airplanes including the 787 and 737 Max, which have already been subject to significant delays.
They can strike indefinitely for me. I will not fly on Boeing aircraft since their apparent poor safety record. That includes Ryanair.
Rejecting a 25% rise !! This is suicide for them and the company .
