Menzies Aviation is set to expand its Cargo operation at London Heathrow Airport (LHR/EGLL) as it secures new contracts for cargo handling with key airlines as well as successfully retaining existing ones.
Among the new contracts is a 14-turn-per-week handling for Thai Airways Cargo which will see Menzies provide cargo handling and airside trucking for the Thai flag carrier which carries around 16,000 tonnes of vegetables and fresh fish from Thailand to the UK.
Menzies will also be the cargo handling agents for Royal Air Maroc Cargo which is a new contract for 7 turns per week. Middle East Airlines has signed another 5-year contract and Royal Jordanian Airlines has extended its use of Menzies to cargo handling on top of its passenger ground handling.
Scandinavian Airlines Cargo and Tarom have both also signed up to continue using Menzies to handle cargo with 35 turns and 7 turns per week respectively.
Karl Aldwinckle, Vice President Cargo – Europe, said: “It is fantastic to see such positive momentum, with a series of wins and renewals for the cargo team at London Heathrow, helping to expand our cargo footprint in Europe. We have an ambitious cargo expansion strategy and are proud to have built strong relationships with our customers who recognise our service-driven approach. We’re excited to continue building on these relationships and expand our reach in Europe and beyond.”
