Singapore Airlines (SQ/SIA) has confirmed it is relaunching flights from Manchester Airport (MAN/EGCC) from 17th July 2021.
The direct service between Singapore Changi Airport and the North of England will operate three-times-per week using an A350-900 aircraft.
It its hoped that this will increase over time and will also see the return of the onward fifth freedom flight to Houston, Texas.
The news comes just a week after Singapore Airlines celebrated 50 years of flying to the UK with Singapore being a key layover point for travellers to Asia and Oceania.
Prior to the Coronavirus pandemic the airline had been Manchester Airports longest serving long-haul carrier serving the airport continuously since 1986.
Mr Mohamed Rafi Mar, General Manager, UK and Ireland, commented: “Manchester and the northwest region have been a key part of our route network for over 30 years, so while it was never our intention to have an enforced break in service as has happened due to the unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic, we are delighted to be able to make our return. As restrictions slowly ease, our dedicated Manchester staff are excited to welcome our customers back once more and we look forward to continuing our longstanding and deep connection with the city of Manchester and its surroundings.”
