Want a German Market? Hop off to Berlin

Forget a few huts in the street, if you want a real German market then why not head off to Berlin with Flybe from Cardiff Airport.

Each year the German capital hosts one of Germany’s biggest markets and this years opens today.

Running from the 23rd November through to 31st December, Berlins Christmas market will spoil you for choice and surround you with a heady mix of mulled spices and food cooking on open fires.

Get a Berlin PassIt’s not just one market though, In Berlin there are many to visit, all with their own distinct atmospheres and delights.

The Berliner Weinachtszeit, located behind Alexanderplatz and is an excellent place to soak up the Christmas spirit and find traditional toys and gifts for those extra-special Christmas gifts whilst WeinachtsZauber at the Gendarmenmarkt can be found in the cultural district housing the cathedrals.

The market at Späth’sche Baumschule dates from the 18th century and is a particularly good one for kids.

There is plenty more to see in Berlin besides the christmas markets though and our tip to make your visit even better is to get a Berlin Pass. With the Berlin Pass you get free entry into over 50 attractions and tours including the infamous Checkpoint Charlie Museum, Berlin Dungeons, Legoland discovery and even river cruises.

How to get there
