London Luton Airport (LTN/EGGW) has rounded off the year with yet another award, this time for its ‘Safety Bus’ initiative.

The Airport Operators Association (AOA) awarded the Safety Bus its Best Safety Week Initiative award.

The safety was used by Luton Airport to educate staff and help improve airport safety during the annual airport safety week held earlier this year.

Having proved effective and popular the bus is now a permanent fixture at the airport, and every fortnight it makes its rounds at the airport, allowing all staff to learn about important safety procedures that keep the airport safe.

The award also recognised the creation of the Safety Stack which is made up of 15 organisations based at the airport that work together on safety issues.

The collaboration resulted in London Luton Airport becoming the first in the world to standardise ground handling procedures in line with IATA’s Ground Operations Manual.
