Qatar Airways return to Cardiff Airport (CWL/EGFF) has taken a step closer with the airline applying for slot pairs into the Welsh Capital from Doha.

The application made to Airport Coordination Ltd (ACL) shows the airline has requested four weekly slots starting on the 18th December 2023.

Information from application shows Qatar Airways plans to operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays using a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

Qatar Airways stopped operating from Cardiff during the coronavirus and has already recommenced operations from its other UK airports.

It should be noted that slot applications are not a gaurantee that a service will operate and sources close to the Welsh Government have indicated that the airline is again seekeing significant financial assistance in order to operate the route.
