Wideroe to launch twice-weekly flights
Norwegian airline Wideroe is to begin direct flights from Liverpool (LPL/EGGP) to Bergen (BGO/ENBR) later this year.
The twice-weekly flights will begin on the 17th August and operate on Mondays and Fridays.
Bergen is Norway’s second city and known as the gateway to the Fjords. Surrounded by mountains and fjords Bergen is located on the west coast of Norway, it is famous for its colourful quayside houses and The Floibanen Funicular goes up Floyen Mountain for panoramic views across the city.
Wideroe operates a fleet of Bombardier Dash 8 aircraft and is the launch customer of the Embraer E195 -E2 which joined the fleet in April this year.
John Irving, CEO for Liverpool Airport said, “We are naturally delighted to see Scandinavia’s largest regional airline Widerøe choose to operate a new scheduled service between Liverpool John Lennon Airport and Bergen.
“The new twice weekly will provide passengers from across the North of England with a great way to visit the city of Bergen as well as access to the Fjords and the popular cruise market from there. It will also allow passengers from across Norway to visit Liverpool and the wider North West using the region’s Faster, Easier and Friendlier Airport”.
