The Kingdom of Belgium has placed an order for 15 Airbus H145M helicopters for its Army and two additional H145s for its Federal Police through the NATO Support and Procurement Agency.

The deal also includes options for a further three helicopters for the Federal Police.

“We are proud that Belgium is joining the growing community of H145M users,” said Bruno Even, CEO of Airbus Helicopters. “In Europe, the robust multi-role helicopter is becoming the reference for tactical airlift capability, special operations, and medical evacuation missions. We are sure that the H145M will quickly become a key asset to the Belgian defence and security portfolio.”

A proven multi-role military helicopter, the H145M is powered by twin Turbomeca Arriel 2E engines controlled by a full authority digital engine control (FADEC) and fitted with the Helionix digital avionics suite including a high-performance 4-axis autopilot.

The H145M can be configured in roles such as light attack, with axial ballistic and guided weapons and a state-of-the-art self-protection system, to a special operations version, including fast rappelling equipment.

It is already used by military and law enforcement agencies across the globe including the United Kingdom and US Army, with the latter operating nearly 500 helicopters from the H145 family.
