Farnborough Airport (FAB/EGLF) has launched its inaugural course in Airport Operations helping to build the skills of those looking to work in airfield environments.

Developed together with Farnborough College of Technology, the course covers all aspects of Airport Operations such as Customer Service, Health and Safety, Security, Ground Handling and Airport Operations.

The course aims to give students the foundational knowledge and grounding needed to be able to apply for a position in the aviation industry.

Simon Geere, CEO at Farnborough Airport, said: “Farnborough has always been at the forefront of British aviation, and we are proud of our pioneering legacy. Today, the Airport continues to play an important role in the prosperity of the region by supporting 3,000 jobs in the local area.

As an Employer of Choice and Responsibility in the local area, we aim to attract, train and retain talent from all backgrounds and experiences. In doing so, we hope to support local people into the workplace and into the aviation industry, which in turn supports and contributes to Rushmoor Borough Council’s Delivery Plan for Skills, Economy and Business.

“With this in mind, we are delighted to be working with the Farnborough College of Technology to launch our new training course, building on our pioneering past and developing the next generation of skilled professionals right here in the local community.”

Virginia Barrett, Principal CEO at Farnborough College of Technology added: “The College has a long history of developing local people for careers in aviation, so we are delighted to extend our training to support an even wider number of roles at the Airport to meet demand. I would encourage anyone interested in training for a new career to look into the course and the careers it could lead to.”

The course is now open for prospective students and more information and registration can be found at www.farn-ct.ac.uk.
