Dutch flag carrier KLM (KM/KLM) has taken delivery of its first Airbus A321neo from European airframer Airbus.
The A321neo will form the backbone of KLM’s modernisation of its short—to medium-haul fleet and shows its commitment to reducing fuel costs and emissions. The aircraft can also operate on 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
KLM’s A321neos are configured with 227 seats in a two-class layout and features Airbus’ Airspace cabin, complete with overhead luggage bins that provide 60% more luggage space.
The wings for he Airbus A321neo are manufactured in Broughton, North Wales as are the wings for all A3XX airbus products.
Speaking about the delivery Marjan Rintel, President & CEO KLM said: “I’ve been looking forward to this with great anticipation. The arrival of the first A321neo marks the start of replacing our Boeing 737 fleet. The A321neo produces less noise and CO2 and therefore contributes significantly to a cleaner, quieter future. It also offers more comfort. I am looking forward to see how our passengers will experience the new aircraft.“
Three more A321neos are expected to be delivered to KLM this year.
