As Wales enter their first major football tournament in 58 years, over 3000 Welsh fans have travelled through Cardiff Airport to watch the first game against Slovakia.

Cardiff Airport saw 4 charter flights leave on Saturday morning bound for Bordeaux with fans eager to see their team play their first group game in the Euro 2016 Championship.

They were not to be dissapointed either with Bale and Co doing the country proud beating Slovakia 2-1. Fellow group team and local rivals England could only draw 1-1 with Russia meaning after the first games, Wales top their group.

A returning Welsh fan told Aviation Wales “it was an amazing day, a party atomosphere fromt the start” whilst another added “being able to fly out for the day to watch Wales play was a real bonus”.

Cardiff Airport Commercial Director Spencer Birns “It has been a great week for Wales in the build up to Euro 2016 and we’re proud to have played a part in getting not only the team but also over 3,000 loyal, Welsh supporters to France”

Wales move on to Lens this thursday to play the “auld enemy” England who sit 2 points behind Wales in Group B.
