RAF Cosford Airshow set to wow crowds this Sunday

The RAF Cosford Airshow, the only airshow organised by the Royal Air Force, is set to wow crowds this Sunday with the weather set to be dry and with light winds.

The annual show is held at RAF Cosford in Shropshire and has already sold out, bar a few hospitality tickets meaning over 50,000 people will be in the crowd.

Highlights on the day include the RAF’s Typhoon Display Team, The Red Arrows, RAF Chinook Display Team and a flypast from an RAF Airbus Voyager MRTT.

This years show will also see the first ever role-demo from the RAF’s newest asset, the Lockheed Martin F35-B Lightning II.

Foreign visitors include the French Armée de l’air et de l’espace displaying Dassault Mirage 2000 pair and a solo Dassault Rafale.

For those who prefer their wings to rotate the Royal Navy Black Cats will show off the manoeuvrability of the Wildcat HM.2. The Gazelle Squadron will be flying their 4-ship Gazelle display and Navy Wings will be flying their Wasp. Project Lynx will also be showing their Westland Lynx AH.7.

For the historic fans there will also be plenty to keep them entertained with the PBY Catalina flying bot, Fairey Swordfish and Dehavilland Vampire making appearances along with the Rolls-Royce Heritage flight Spitfire and Mustang.

Away from the flying there also lots of static displays for the crowds to explore along with stands and entertainment across the show ground.
