Loganair launches new Glasgow to Newquay route

Leading regional airline Loganair (LM/LOG) has begun its new Glasgow (GLA/EGPF) to Cornwall Airport Newquay (NQY/EGHQ) with the first departure leaving Glasgow on the 31st May.

The new weekly service operates on Saturdays giving Scots a direct route down to Cornwall for short breaks and getaways.

Known for its surf culture and summer sun-soaked coastlines, Cornwall is a popular region for those looking to holiday in the UK and it is hoped that the new route will boost tourism in both directions.

Luke Lovegrove, chief commercial officer at Loganair, said: “We’re pleased to be serving this exciting route for our summer schedule linking Glasgow and Newquay – bringing two vibrant regions closer together just in time for the summer season.

“We have been pleasantly surprised by the strength of demand on this route which bodes well for the future development of it, and we look forward to working closely with both Glasgow and Newquay airports to unlock its potential.”

There has been an increased demand for UK holidays which is being recognised by Loganair as it looks to expand its regional network within the UK.

Amy Smith, Managing Director (Interim) at Cornwall Airport Newquay, said: “We’re excited to welcome Loganair’s Glasgow service to Cornwall Airport Newquay. This important connection opens up fantastic opportunities for both leisure and business travel. We’re proud to work with Loganair to strengthen regional connectivity and support inbound tourism to Cornwall.”

Fares on the route start at £89.99 one-way and include a 21kg luggage allowance and the service is operated by an Embraer ERJ Regional Jet.

Note: An earlier version of this article stated it operated twice weekly, this was incorrect information supplied by the airline.
