The new deal means that passengers will be able to connect to the British Airways network from Teesside via London Heathrow without having to book separate flights or recheck luggage.

Loganair already operates daily flights between Teesside and London Heathrow and the British Airways “through tickets” will be available to travel from 1st July, but can be booked from 22nd June.

Kay Ryan, Chief Commercial Officer at Loganair, said: “I am delighted that our customers, wishing to connect through London Heathrow to the rest of the world, can now do so by booking via British Airways on one ticket, with all the security and peace of mind that brings to international travel. Our increased frequency, 3 flights a day from 12 July, means that many more worldwide connections are now available.’’

The agreement adds to the growing list of UK airports where Loganair already has codeshare deals with British Airways.

“Chris Fordyce, Head of Alliances at British Airways, said: “I am delighted to be growing our partnership with Loganair through this new codeshare route, and look forward to connecting customers in the Tees Valley with our extensive global network.”

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen added: “The adding of Teesside International to the British Airways and Loganair codeshare agreement is another fantastic coup that, as Government continues to review the rules on travelling abroad, makes our airport more global and outward-looking than ever. This arrangement with British Airways cuts down on queuing times, stress and hassle for people travelling abroad for business or a much-deserved holiday.
