
Orders from China Airlines and BOC Aviation have given Airbus March orderbook a boost as the month closes out.
Leasing speciaist BOC Aviation signed a firm order for 70 additional A320neo family single-aisle airliners making BOC’s order backlog, airlines to be delivered, the largest in Airbus’ history.
“This transaction will lift our remaining Airbus orderbook to around 200 aircraft and takes our total Airbus aircraft deliveries to over 700 (including purchase and leasebacks) since our first order in 1996,” said Steven Townend, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, BOC Aviation. “This order solidifies our position as one of the top five global aircraft operating lessors and provides us with a strong delivery pipeline into the next decade. We look forward to providing more airline customers with this popular fuel-efficient and technologically advanced aircraft.”

China Airlines also finalised a deal for 10 A350-1000s, the larger of the two variants, firming up a commitment it made at the end of 2024.
The airline will use the A350 to operate routes to North America and Europe as it looks to increase capacity and expand on its existing fleet of A350-900s.

Both orders are great news for the UK economy also with the wings for all Airbus airliners (excpt the A220) made in Airbus’ Broughton, North Wales facility. The engines for the A350 are also made in the UK by Rolls-Royce Derby.
