British Airways has unveiled its new first class seat which will it says will form part of the Airbus A380 cabin refit that is due to start rolling out in 2026.

The new ultra-wide seat is 36.5″ wide & 79″ long when in lie-flat bed mode and features a multi-purpose ottoman and stow away table.

A 32″ 4K TV will provide the in-flight entertainment and adjustable mood-lighting will help the passenger to set the ambiance they want for the flight with presets such as “Relax”, “Dine” and “Cinema”.

The entire seat is cocooned inside a 60″ curved wall for privacy and the central, side by side seats have a dividing wall which can be lowered if travelling with a companion to create a shared lounge space.

The seat has been designed and built by experts from across the UK and Ireland including Tangerine Design, Muirhead, Repli, Botany Weaving, MGR Foamtex, Trimite Global and Amman Group and designed to feel like a luxury modern hotel. The seat itself is manufactured by Collins Aerospace RTX.

British Airways is the only European carrier from the UK that offers a first-class cabin on transatlantic flights with most option for just business class.

First-class passengers also have access to exclusive “First Wing” at Heathrow Airport as well as fast-track security and access to other lounges.
