British Airways (BA/BAW) has kicked off its Summer 2025 schedule which sees the return of direct flights to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Tblisi, Georgia from London Heathrow (LHR/EGLL)

British Airways last few to Kuala Lumpur five years ago and the direct service operated by a Boeing 787 Dreamliner wil be a welcome return for many UK travellers.

The codeshare agreement with Malaysia Airlines has also been expanded opening up connections across the region from Kuala Lumpur.

Also returning to the routemap is Tblisi which was last served by British Airways in 2013.

The Georgian capital sits on the border between Europe and Asia and has proved popular with those looking for a city break full of culture, history and stunning scenery.

Georgia also claims to be the home of wine having a winemaking history that goes back 8,000 years!

British Airways’ Chief Planning and Strategy Officer, Neil Chernoff, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Malaysia and Georgia back to our network, both of which are two key destinations that our customers know and love.

“Our teams have worked hard to bring these routes firmly back on our route map, meaning customers have more choice when it comes to travel for work or pleasure across Europe, Asia and beyond. From the birthplace of wine to one of the most connected cities in Asia, we hope our customers take advantage of exploring somewhere new and we look forward to welcoming them on board.”

Other changes for this summer include a frequency increase for the Heathrow to Tokyo Haneda service which becomes twice daily meaning 14 flights per week will leave London for the Japanse capital.

Three new routes to italy start next month from London Heathrow, London City (LCY/EGLC) and London Gatwick (LGW/EGKK) to Rimini, Olbia and Salerno respectively.

British Airways is increasing capacity on its route to the Sausi capital Riyadh with an increase in frequency making 80,000 more seats available compared to last year.
