FlyBe’s new routes from Cardiff Airport (EGFF/CWL) have got underway with the newly based Embraer E195 aircraft. BE4501 departed Cardiff at 06:45am this morning for Edinburgh.

The flight was operated by FlyBe’s Embraer E195 G-FBEI which is the first of two of the type to be based at Cardiff to cover the new routes and destinations introduced by FlyBe this summer.

Following its return from Edinburgh, G-FBEI departed under a Water Cannon Salute to Jersey before returning to operate both the Paris and Dublin rotations.

The new destinations however have not been without controversy with CityJet directly citing Cardiff Airport incentives for FlyBe as the reason that they are pulling out of the airport. CityJet of course took over the routes lost when FlyBe originally pulled out.

FlyBe’s new destinations include Belfast, Dublin, Paris, Milan, Jersey, Dusseldorf, Geneva, Munich, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Faro.

  1. please can cardiff do more flights to Turkey again? All the Welsh have to cross the border to Bristol to get to Turkey unless they pay huge air fares to fly from Cardiff. If there was more competotion, the prices may come down.
