if you have ever wanted to fly in a Spitfire then its time to dip into the savings as now you can!
Aero Legends, who operate from Sywell Airfield in Northamptonshire and Headcorn Airfield in Kent, specialize in offering flying experiences in classic warbird aircraft.
Their current inventory includes a T6 Harvard, Tiger Moth and of course, a Spitfire.
The Spitfire experience package includes a 20-minute flight in a T9 Dual Cockpit Spitfire built for training new pilots on the type. AeroLegends T9 is Spitfire NH341 which was built in Castle Bromwich in the West Midlands.
It was delivered on the 28th April 1944 but just a few months later was shot down. Warrant Officer James “Jimmy” Jeffrey 411 Squadron was flying a morning patrol in NH341 on the 2nd July 1944 when he was engaged by FW190’s of JG26 South-East of Caen. W/O Jeffrey was shot down. WO Jeffrey managed to bale out and after evading capture made it back to the UK safely.
The Aero Legends Spitfire NH341 was restored and converted to a dual cockpit T9 version by the experts at Historic Flying Ltd at Duxford. You can read about the restoration on their blog.
In addition to the flight, your experience will also see you doing pre-flight planning with your Pilot as well as having the whole experience filmed on multiple HD cameras within the aircraft.
The Spitfire experience package costs from £2500 and can be booked at http://aerolegends.co.uk/spitfire/spitfire-flights
