Atlantic Airways to launch direct London to Faroe Islands service

Atlantic Airways has confirmed it is launching a new direct service from London Gatwick (LGW/EGKK) to Vagar on the Faroe Islands for Summer 2024.

Starting from the 1st of June 2024 the twice weekly service will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays offering the chance of short breaks and longer stays to the archipelago which lies halfway between Iceland and Norway.

The Faroe Islands are made up of 18 volcanic islands with Torshavn, the capital, situated just 45 minutes away by car from Vagar.

The islands are described as a paradise for hikers and those seeking a more outdoors adventure with its Fjords, waterfalls and plethora small towns with their iconic churches.

The almost 7 mile long undersea road tunnel, known as The Eysturoy Tunnel is also a must see if you are driving between islands. The three branch tunnel connecting Streymory with Eysturoy features the world’s only undersea roundabout.

Flights from Gatwick to Vagar will operate until 31st of August 2024.

Atlantic Airways’ only other UK flight is to Edinburgh (EDI/EGPH), Scotland.
