Wizz Air confirms first A321XLR base

Wizz Air has confirmed that it’s first Airbus A321XLR (Extra Long Range) aircraft will be based at London Gatwick (LGW/EGKK).

The airline will be the first ultra-low-cost airline to operate the type and has chosen the first long-haul route to be London to Jeddah.

Wizz Air will start XLR operations om the 31st March 2025 and is banking on passengers being happy to sit in an all economy cabin for 7 hours because if the low prices.

Prices from London to Jeddah will start at £134.99.

Its enhanced range capability allows Wizz Air to connect the farthest destinations in its network, while also providing opportunities for further expansion, connecting more cultures, economies and continents.

“We are excited to offer unbeatable fares to our customers on the new route from London Gatwick to Jeddah. Since establishing our base at London Gatwick in 2020, we have demonstrated ambitious growth, making it a natural, strategic decision to operate our first Airbus A321XLR from this airport.”

London Gatwick to Jeddah will operate daily from 31st March.
