UK-based Arcube has raised £1.23m ($1.5m) in seed funding for its Passenger Intelligence Platform which is designed to help airlines upsell to passengers post-flight.
The platform was developed by University of Manchester graduates Prithveesh Reddy and Harvey Lowe and has recently been trialled by Etihad Airways. With Etihad, it generated $1.6m in extra revenue from just 1,300 passengers.
The platform uses advanced data analytics to track passenger behaviour and suggest personalised upsells for frequent flyers immediately after their flights.
When Etihad trialled the system the order value of post-flight extras increased by 10.3% and could prove to be an invaluable tool for airlines who have traditionally struggled to leverage extra revenue from its frequent flyers and build loyalty.
Prithveesh Reddy explained, “Airlines have vast amounts of passenger data—what people eat on board, how early they arrive at the airport, how long they spend in lounges—but much of it goes unused. Our platform bridges that gap by offering tailored, real-time options to passengers as soon as they get off the flight.”
Arcube was grown through the The University of Manchester’s Masood Entrepreneurship Centre (MEC), which was established by Alliance Manchester Business School (AMBS) enterprise lecturers in 2000 and provides resources and support for budding entrepreneurs.
Arcube is currently in discussion with 14 airlines globally to roll out the Passenger Intelligence Platform.
