A light aircraft has been forced to land near a golf course just short of the runway at St Athan airfield in South Wales.

The aircraft, a Piper PA-28 Cherokee G-OFTI, is understood to have suffered a loss of power and was unable to make the runway.

The aircraft landed safely near St Athan Golf Club and all occupants of the aircraft were uninjured.

The aircraft did not suffer any significant damage in the incident which occurred earlier today and was quickly recovered to the airfield.
