His Majesty King Charles III is to pass on the role of the Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corp to his son, HRH Prince William, Prince of Wales, in a ceremony at the Army Aviation Centre, Middle Wallop today.
The King has held the role of Colonel-in-Chief for 31 years under his previous title as the Prince of Wales but his eldest son will take over the role.
Prince Harry, the Kings youngest son, served in the Army Air Corp as an Apache Pilot serving two tours in Afghanistan.
During the visit the King will be met with a guard of honour Lieutenant General Sir Nicholas Borton, Colonel Commandant of the Army Air Corps who will escort His Majesty to the Army Flying Museum where he will unveil a plaque commemorating the arrival of the first Apache AH Mk.1 to be installed in a UK museum.
His Majesty will then cross the airfield to the control where he will official handover the role to Prince William.
Prince William will then view the new operational aircraft of the Army Air Corp, the Apache AH64E, which has replaced the AH MK.1, before leaving Middle Wallop in an Apache for a capability flight.
