Jet2.com has marked an impressive milestone, celebrating two decades of flying from Manchester Airport. Since its inaugural flight to Budapest in 2004, the airline has expanded rapidly, now offering flights to 70 destinations across Europe, the Canary Islands, and the Mediterranean. Over 36 million passengers have travelled with the airline from Manchester, making it one of the UK’s most popular carriers.
To commemorate its 20th anniversary, Jet2.com treated its customers to a VIP experience at Manchester Airport. Holidaymakers were greeted with a red-carpet welcome, passed through a festive balloon arch, and received discount vouchers for future bookings with the airline or Jet2holidays.
When Jet2.com first launched from Manchester, it operated to just three destinations. Today, it ranks as the UK’s third-largest airline, with a growing list of routes that cater to all types of travellers. From sun-soaked escapes to city breaks and winter ski trips, Jet2.com’s expansion has been remarkable. New routes for Winter 24/25, Summer 25, and beyond are already in the pipeline, including flights to Gdansk for the festive season and new summer destinations to Jerez, Pula, and Salerno.
In addition to expanding its flight network, Jet2.com has consistently been recognised for its customer service. With a reputation for offering competitive fares, a generous baggage allowance, and excellent flight times, the airline has become a favourite for travellers in the North West. Its customer-first approach has earned it multiple accolades, including Which? Travel Brand of the Year for three consecutive years.
The success of Jet2.com has been complemented by the growth of its sister brand, Jet2holidays. Launched in 2007, the package holiday arm is now the UK’s largest tour operator, offering ATOL-protected holidays, a choice of 2-5 star accommodations, and the reassurance of in-resort customer service.
Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, commented: “This is a significant milestone in our history. From starting with just three destinations, we’ve grown substantially, and this anniversary is a chance to reflect on our achievements and look forward to the future. Our focus on VIP customer service has been key to our success.”
Stephen Turner, Chief Commercial Officer at Manchester Airport, added: “We congratulate Jet2.com on 20 years of successful operations from Manchester. Their diverse range of destinations perfectly aligns with our mission to offer travellers unrivalled choice and convenience.”
As Jet2.com looks ahead, both the airline and Manchester Airport are eager to build on their strong relationship in the years to come
