VLM Airlines has said it will end the Antwerp to Birmingham (BHX/EGBB) service in the “coming weeks” as it seeks to focus on its charter operations.
In a press releases by VLM owner, SHS Aviation, the planned service to Manchester (MAN/EGCC) is also postponed until further notice as the airline cuts all scheduled services with the exception of London and Zurich.
Their spokesperson, Yves Panneels said that “We want to put more effort into the market of charter flights” adding “The demand for charter flights is large, but that demand could not be met by scheduled flights”
The airline is also undergoing a fleet shake up and reduction as Johan Maertens, VLM CEO’s explained: “At the same time, a fleet reduction will also be implemented. It is no secret that we have been busy preparing the replacement of the Fokker 50 aircraft for some time now. The expected commissioning of the new aircraft is planned for the second half of 2019. ”
