United Airlines (UA/UAL) has confirmed it will not be restarting flights from Manchester Airport in 2020.

The Chicago, Illinois based airline previously operated a flight between Manchester Airport (MAN/EGCC) and New York Liberty (EWR/KEWR) and had been due to restart operations on the 24th October after a spring and summer of travel restrictions as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic.

The route was operated daily by a Boeing 767-300 and was a popular link from the North of England to America.

United’s withdraw from the airport leaves just Virgin Atlantic operating flights to the U.S. with their services to Atlanta, New York JFK, Orlando and a seasonal service to Los Angeles, although Virgin have not yet confirmed whether all of these routes will restart.
