Holiday group TUI has cancelled holidays to countries including Jamaica, Cyprus, Malta & Italy which were due to depart in the next few days.

The holiday company made the move after local restrictions to combat the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) made it impossible to give its customers “the holiday they expect”.

A spokesperson for TUI said: “Our holiday programme is experiencing some disruption due to local authority restrictions and Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) advice

“We are proactively contacting all customers whose holidays are affected to discuss their options, including an amendment or full refund.”

TUI added that at the moment their holiday programme is operating normally from the 25th March but if that changes they will contact customers accordingly.

The affected countries are Jamaica, Spain, Cyprus, Malta, Tunisia and Italy.

Customers due to travel in the next two weeks should check the TUI website for the latest information https://www.tui.co.uk/destinations/travel-information/tui-coronavirus-information

On Saturday, rival holiday company Jet2 instructed its flights to Spain to turn back in midair and cancelled all flights due to depart after advice from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) advised against travel to the region.
